Fixtures Update

Merton Cricket Club

3 Mar 2023

The 2023 Preseason fixtures have been finalised!

Winter nets finish on Saturday, April 8th - and the 2023 season will kick off exactly a week later on April 15th. The Saturday League teams will have three weekends of friendly games against tough opposition as their tune-up for their forthcoming League campaigns, and while the results of these games won't be as important as the game-time gained and the momentum created, there's nothing like a winning feeling to take into a brand new season. The captains will be looking to everyone to bring their best endeavours to the cricket field. There are two Interclub games: the 3rds take on the 4ths on April 15th, and the 1sts take on the 2nds on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st.

The complete list is as follows:

APRIL 15th

1st XI v NEO CC (A)

2nd XI v TEDDINGTON TOWN (A)

3rd XI v 4th XI INTERCLUB (Victoria Rec, Surbiton)

SATURDAY, APRIL 22nd 1st XI v NEWDIGATE (A) 2nd XI v PURLEY (A) 3rd XI v SPENCER (A)

4th XI v SPENCER (A)

SATURDAY, APRIL 29th 1st XI v COBHAM AVORIANS (H)

2nd XI v COBHAM AVORIANS (A) 3rd XI v PURLEY (A)

MONDAY, MAY 1st

1st XI v 2nd XI INTERCLUB (H)

EGAN/BALLARD CHALLENGE: Merton v Morden (A)

As you can see, we have another One Wicked Weekend to bring in the month of May! Saturday April 29th, Sunday April 30th and Monday May 1st sees EIGHT games played including the return of the Morden v Merton Egan/Ballard Challenge at Morden Park on the Monday. Morden won the inaugural fixture last year, so bragging rights as well as the trophy are firmly in our sights this time around!
